In the woods

He was in his elements in the woods.
The birds, the occasional chirps never made him feel alone.
The feeling of touching upon a square of Earth that no one else has stepped on, gave him a high, better than any other high.

For in this moment, there was no one who could hurt him. Even himself.
It's true, loneliness felt intimidating but here it was liberating.
He could hear every leaf rustle. A Melody his heart would beg to listen every week-day.

He could hear his heart beat too, a reminder that it'd beat for eons, should he stay still.
A sight before his eyes which only he could see in this brief passage of time.
Ubiquitous, like an eye in the sky.
He wondered if anyone could feel what he felt at this moment.

Garden of Stone

I don't need a walk in the garden of stones to remind me who I am.
I know I was born alone and alone will I die.

The one thing that always tore me apart is the one thing I'll embrace again.
I wouldn't need you by my side, while I'm fighting against the tide.

I've wandered enough.
I know now, I'm the answer to my questions.

Never a number, always a name.
Put me down and I'll never be the same.

I'm myself, like you somehow

Timid and frail she walked out into the sun.
The world felt new.
Distant.
So many people around and yet so lonely she felt .
She nearly forgot that she could speak, reminded only by the constant "I'm alright's" she had to lie.
Her fingers still outstretched, searching for the warmth of the hand that guided her first steps.
She could sense her around, yet the world felt like a veil....
The veil that hides existence.
It felt like eternity had burnt a book and time was turning it's pages.
Known her for 25 years, could've known her for a thousand more.
She wishes heaven had eyes and she could see her somehow.
And she thinks...
Can you see me now, I'm myself, like you somehow.

Of pearls and stars

Closed as a sea shell,
now lay open like a book.
Strings of pearls now a sphere of lies.
He reached to pull out his pocket watch.
The timely reminder from his father, carried her face opposite the other.
That tiny thing was all he'd have of them.

He could swear the curl on her smile grew wider,
but could he blame her?
He'd long for the sun on a rainy day too,
greed, temptation and lust to name a few.
But would he?
He let out a sigh as the sun vanished behind the horizon.

He looked up, he knew that she'd be a star in somebody else's sky.
A crescent white hope lingered though,
not as bright as her brother.
It seemed like the night loved him more than anyone else.
They had an equilibrium.
The moon knew all his darkest fears and the night her warmth and light.
They found love in a hopeless place, he thought.
A place very much like his.

Maybe someday

He continued walking
Pausing randomly for an occasional glance at the sun
It hung low, casting a dullness like an oil lamp running out
He looked back over his shoulder
The footsteps he traced were a stark reminder of her
The waves left no stone unturned to wipe them clean
Yet, like her, most of them were adamant and stayed put
Every grain of sand on his sole, felt like a burst of emotions in his head
He looked around....couples everywhere...
Hand in hand, they walked without a care in the world
Happy...
He smirked, he knew what they didn't.
He knew, what probably she didn't.
He looked back at the sun again
Even the now faint globe of light hurt his eyes
The light reminded him of her eyes.
Blazing hard, yet so distant.
What it hid, was so much more than it seemed.
Why, was not a question but an echoing reality
Just like the sea could not marry the shore,
but visits her every time he gets.
Maybe. Some day.

To the one who walked away

So one fine day, she finally decided to walk away.
Walk away with all her care and love, just another page turned.
A moment of everything and then nothing at all.
He could not quite take in the loss of a massive pillar in an already shaky life.

He could see people on the other side of the river.
He recognises them, a smile and a tear rolls down his cheek.
He could wave out to them, shout for help.
Unfortunately for him though, they aren't looking his way.
They are looking at the Sun, shining bright.
He tries to look at it too, the brightness hurts his eyes.
He looks away, he looks back.

She's standing there in all her grace.
She isn't facing him but she's not looking away either.
He approaches her, knowing not what to say.
An arms reach behind her, he stops.
He contemplates a lot of things.
The pain, the agony and the love.
Of all the things he should've told her.
Unspoken words will haunt him for the rest of his life.

He tries to reach out to her.
A matter of raising an arm.
Every muscle in his body gives away.
Every cell in his body protests the impending pain.
Yet he finds her with a gentle tap on her slender shoulder.

He struggles to find a word to say.
Never liked goodbyes and it was harder than he thought.
"I'll be sound. It is time for you to light up somebody else's life."
With that, he leaves.

He looks around, he's got mountains to climb.
It's going to be a long journey.
He look's by his side, he still has three pillars with him.
Two of them made him the man he is.
The other is the one he will grow with.

She will always be remembered.
He shrugs it off, he won't and he can't stop now.
He knows of a path that will lead him to her again.
He knows the way but in the long run you can still change the path you're on.
